Riccardo Vecchio

I love portraiture. Vecchio is often a portrait artist, known for his illustrations & for exploring the psychology of how bodies move through spaces, or 'psychogeography'. What I find refreshing about his work is his sense of uneasiness, regardless of his subject matter. Surely no politician, artist, or musician is as solid, stable, and resolute as he appears to be.

I often wish this wasn't the case.

Hedi Slimane

Hedi Slimane remains one of my favorite portrait photographers. Love his use of lighting, his (generally) androgynous subjects, and his sense of honesty. Here's the latest of his photography that I'm digging.

Dior Homme SP'13

Dior Homme Spring 2013. I like the smart, simple, and clean look of Kris Van Assche's Navy-themed Spring line.

The Kills: "The Last Goodbye"

I can't stop listening to this song, which is pretty soft-edged for The Kills. Even though I love how gritty & growly they normally are, this is a lovely change. Sad, but simple & lovely. For the video, the band hired Oscar nominated actress Samantha Morton (who's recently been getting into directing). The video was shot in monochrom on crisp, silvery 35mm. Photobooth confessions & goodbyes.

Greg Lauren - Spring 2012

Greg Lauren's Spring 2012 line. I like the ratty, tattered ruggedness of the military-inspired line, as well as its versatility across both genders. Some of it's not quite there -- vests are a bit too frumpy, and some of it tries a bit too hard to look distressed. But in general, I like where Greg is going. (Yes, there's a relation to Ralph Lauren -- Ralph is Greg's uncle).
